Are you ready to turn those snow boots into hiking boots? Are you ready to discuss meaningful summer employment? If you answered yes, especially to the last question, then it's time to take a serious look at employment at the Englishton Park Summer Camp located in Lexington, Indiana.  Over the last 55 consecutive summers, hundreds of psychology, education, sociology majors - and even music majors - have spent their summers using therapeutic techniques to bring about changes in 8 to 12-year-olds who could use a little help to have more success at home or at school. Employment dates are June 6 to July 25, 2024.  Salary is $5,000.

Room and board is provided.

REFLECTIONS FROM A FORMER STAFF MEMBER

Thank you for teaching me such valuable skills and theory for my career. Thank you creating one of the best learning experiences I have ever had. Thank you for placing me in the company of some of the best human beings I have ever met.

Thank you for teaching me to appreciate the magic of a dirt-covered hot dog, potato sticks, lemonade, and S'mores. Thank you for teaching me that every day can be a fun learning opportunity, and when you step into that mentality, magic happens.

Most importantly though, thank you for teaching the power of love, connection, safety, and community. Englishton Park was a beautiful creation of science and behavioral health, and it was also so much more. The interventions were our tools, but our true power was love. I will never forget the teary-eyed smile of yet another camper sharing that this was the first award they had ever received. I will never forget that look of pride and love in their eyes, finally believing they're worthy of praise.

Englishton Park was not just one caring adult, but an entire community of palpable, powerful love. Every praise formula and fist bump was saturated with genuine care and love. Shaving cream and nail polish were the props for deep, beautiful conversations with amazing young souls. Thank you for teaching me about the important power of community and love.
